Mult-asteptata ceremonie de inmanare a premiilor Grammy, eveniment ajuns la cea de-a 53-a editie, s-a incheiat. Editia de anul acesta a venit cu o serie de surprize. Iata care au fost castigatorii:
Trio-ul american Lady Antebellum, nominalizat la sase categorii, a fost recompensat cu cele mai multe premii – cinci distinctii, incluzand ‘Cantecul Anului’- pentru “Need You Now” si ‘Single-ul Anului’- tot pentru piesa ““Need You Now”.
Lady Gaga – purtata pe covorul rosu intr-un ou – a plecat acasa cu trei premii Grammy: ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Album’ pentru “The Fame Monster”, ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’ pentru “Bad Romance” si ‘Best Short Form Music Video’ tot pentru “Bad Romance”.
Rapperul Jay-Z si cantaretul de soul John Legend au fost si ei distinsi cu cate trei Grammy-uri. Jay-Z a primit doua premii pentru duetul cu Alicia Keys- “Empire State of Mind”, iar Legend a fost recompensat pentru colaborarea cu The Roots.

Eminem, desi considerat favorit al Grammy-urilor, nominalizat la 10 categorii, a plecat acasa cu doar doua premii. Oricum, mai multe decat se astepta el… Rapperul declarase cu cateva zile in urma ca este sigur ca nu va primi nicio distinctie. El a castigat la ‘Cel mai bun album rap’ – cu “Recovery” si la ‘cea mai buna prestatie solo rap’ – cu “Not Fraid”.
O surpriza, mai mult sau mai putin placuta pentru fani, a avut loc la categoria ‘Cel mai bun artist debutant’, unde – spre surprinderea tuturor – premiul a revenit Esperanzei Spalding, care i-a invins pe Justin Bieber si Drake. Ea este, astfel, primul muzician de jazz distins cu acest trofeu.
Paul McCartney a primit premiul pentru ‘Cel mai bun concert rock solo’, pentru “Good Evening New York City”, iar trupa Muse a castigat la ‘Cel mai bun album rock’ cu “The Resistance”.
Rihanna a castigat la ‘Cel mai bun single dance’ cu piesa “Only Girl in the World”, iar Bruno Mars a fost desemnat ‘Cel mai bun interpret pop’. Usher a primit premiul pentru ‘Cel mai bun album R&B’ cu “Raymond vs. Raymond”, dar si cel pentru ‘Cel mai bun cantaret R&B’ pentru piesa “There Goes My Baby”.
